    With loose substrates, I spot clean every day. I only change the substrate every couple of months.

    With paper, I change it 1-2 times per week.

    Thanks yall for all your answers, and your own routines. I'm going to keep trying the spot cleaning for now and keep an eye out (and I guess nose too) for when he needs a complete change.

    Right now I'm using aspen shavings, but when I'm finished with this bag I want try the carefresh. I used that for my pet rabbit and liked for him. I forgot that it said it can be used on such a wide variety of animals.

    I spot clean as and when it is needed,then on the first day of every month I take all the substrate out use a reptile disinfectant on the viv and put new substrate in.

    1 part bleach to 10 parts water is a safe cleaner as long as you let the enclosure air dry after a fresh water rinse.

    Bleach is awesome. Deadly if not used right though. Flushing with clean water is impairative. I flush twice.(no bathroom humor please)
