That would be interesting! Poor girl can barely get in her hides. Poor Seeley can't get in the hides with her anymore so he just lies on top of the hides with his head dangling down inside so that he can be close to her...it's so sad!

    Re: Marnie's Snakes

Well, I had a first this evening with Cee Cee. She rarely musks me...she has to be really scared or upset to do it. She has been very defensive and skiddish lately...because of her condition I am guessing. I haven't been handling her because of that. But I looked in on her today and she had something sticking out of her mouth...a little slither of wood or something, I'm not sure. I had to reach in and grab at her mouth and swat at it repeatedly to try to get it...you have to be very careful putting your fingers up to Cee Cee's mouth. So, she was already getting upset and defensive because she thought I was trying to attack her or something...poor thing...but the thing was still in her mouth, so I grabbed her and took her out of the enclosure and she basically emptied her bowels, bladder...everything....all over me and the floor. She completely turned her vent area inside out and just unleashed. Poor thing. She was freaked out for the rest of the afternoon. She has never been like that with me before. The only time I ever saw her do that is when I took her to the vet. I even tried to give her a pinky head to make it up to her...but she wouldn't eat. I feel so bad now.

Sounds like a proper venting. Our Cuitzeos are the only ones that void themselves so perfectly on occasions.

I don't think snakes work like kids, you can't upset them then bribe them with sweets (in this case a pinky head) to make them forgive you. Garters are too intelligent for that.

You need to get you a pair of hemostats or long tweezers for situations like this. If a piece of substrate is sticking out of their mouth, then you can grab it with them and it doesn't stress them as much as trying to remove it with your fingers. Harder to take a poop blast this way

    Re: Marnie's Snakes

I do have a pair...I just didn't even think of it. I just saw her and reached in and tried to get it with my fingers. Good advice though, Mike. Next time she has something on her face, I will use the hemostats. Thanks.

    Re: Marnie's Snakes

Well, I don't have long tweezers. I have many pairs of regular tweezers and a pair of hemostats that I use for feeding Cee Cee. Where do you buy long tweezers?
