If only I had space to build an aviary. Birds of prey really are something special. Thanks for posting them up

You only need an aviary if you want to breed of in the case of a Goshawk, a seclusion aviary for moulting. I must stress Raptors are NOT pets. They do need special attention and cannot be treated like a cat or a dog. Lots of learning before even thinking about getting one.

They really aren't for petting lol. I actually thought about looking into courses to learn about their care and husbandry, and to get some hands on experience before committing to anything. I still wouldn't think about it until I had more space though. I have a tiny tiny garden lol

    Very cool birds.
In Michigan, you have to study for quite some time and serve an apprenticeship before getting a permit for a hawk. I think all beginners are required tho start out with a common native broad winged hawk, like a red tailed hawk.

We have peregrines nesting on the county building in the town where I live. I love watching them chase the pigeons around downtown. Funny thing is, they seldom kill and eat the pigeons- they prefer woodcock and other tastier birds, even though they have to fly further to get them.

Rod...the bird perched outside my house had the exact coloring of Robin...the bird in one of your pics...but the bird I saw was actually bigger, I would guess...by looking at the size of Robin in comparison to you.

I would need to see a pic. I'd rather be Positive rather than giving you a 'Possible' ID. All good things to he who waits. Patience is a vertue! as my mother used to say.
