I hope so...it just sounds bad this time...worse than before, although oddly enough there is no wheezing this time...just the crackling and an obvious congested sound when she is breathing...oh, and I forgot to mention she has been doing a kind of sneezing thing. But she is eating and responsive.

I hope this thing resolves itself for her soon. If she is gravid the extra stress on her system won't help. Crossing my fingers

Please excuse the big grin at the end of that post. Was suppose to be a wink.

    Re: Marnie's Snakes

Well, she is doing okay this morning. The heat is still up and so is the humidity. A weird thing that has been going on on top of all of this lately is that she has been refusing to go to the cool side of the enclosure because I cannot seem to find a cool hide that she likes and that she can fit inside! She is extremely picky...I have noticed this about my easterns in particular...they do not react well to changes in their enclosure, and are very picky about hides. I can put something new in the viv and Cee Cee and Seeley will sit in a corner and stare at it and refuse to go near it for days. For some reason, she stopped going in her slim jim can hide, which was her cool side hide. I think she couldn't fit in it anymore! I keep trying to make new hides for her, but she will not go in them...therefore, she will not go to the cool side, which is concerning me. I will try to listen to her breathing in a little while. She is being very skiddish the last couple of days...I don't want to stress her too much. The idea of taking her to the vet worries me too because that will be very stressful on her.

are pringles cans bigger than your slim jim can? she might like those, if she's not too big for them as well! she may just want the extra heat.

I thought about pringles cans...they aren't much wider. I made a hide out of a box for her last night...I'm trying to get her to consider going in it...she is just staring at it from across the tank right now, of course.

    Re: Marnie's Snakes

I took Cee Cee out to listen to her breathing tonight. I hated to do it...I didn't want to stress the poor thing out anymore than she already is...she is so skiddish right now. But I just couldn't hear her breathing enough without taking her out. It didn't sound as bad as before...still clicking a lot, and a little bit of the congestion...but I didn't hear the crackling. Hopefully the heat and humidity is helping. I did try to get her to go on the cool side, but she went right back over to the warm side again. I made her a moist hide, but she isn't going in it. I turned her heat pad off because she wouldn't go in her warm cave hide...it may have been getting a little too warm in there for her. As soon as I turned the heat mat off, she went back inside. I'll leave her 40 watt red bulb on overnight to keep it warm for her. Humidity is at 50%. I'll reassess in the morning and decide whether or not to call the vet.

Cee Cee's breathing seems okay this morning. I stuck my head in the tank and couldn't hear anything out of the ordinary. I'm going to try to give her a little bite of something to eat later to see if I hear anything like I heard before. Maybe she just needed an increase in heat and humidity again...or maybe she had a little piece of substrate caught in her nare or something.
