I had the screen door open and heard him up by the house in the leaves so I remedied that mistake.
He took a nice drink of water and was sent on his way.
I wasn't expecting an update on this thread for another month or so. Good to know you didn't forget your manners, really not offering the little fella a drink straight away?

    It was a pleasant surprise.
I think he is a snake I released last Spring.
    Looked very familiar.

He is a nice looking fella...and he knew the right place to show up. I have been thinking now that we have been getting some warm days around here, I better start putting my garter radar on...start looking around the yard and checking the basement.

I went outside today for a little sweep of the yard...I call it "doing a sweep"...looking to see if any garters were around since it has been so warm out. I may have gotten out too late in the day...but I didn't see anything. Of course, I haven't seen any around here in a while.

Wow. It was sunny and in the 60's in Vancouver, WA on the 7th. Nothing but cold rain in the forecast now. I think I pretty much count on no good herping days for the next month or so. Heck, last year I couldn't find squat until the middle of April. It was just too dang wet and cold.
