Hello all,

I'm new here and new to Thamnophis in general. I have a bit more experience with boids. I got my first pair of ribbon snakes at the end of this past summer, and for a snake touted to be easy, I've actually found them more challenging. Most places out here in San Diego don't sell appropriate feeder fish, and I get in trouble if I take too many mosquitofish. I've been feeding mostly guppies and platys, but it's getting expensive! Bonnie and Clyde are my little guys' names. Here are some photos!

And here's my set-up. The pothos has really grown since this picture was taken, and subsequently I removed the orchid. I also added a film backdrop to provide them with a little more security.

Welcome aboard. There's a few folks with ribbons on here, so you're in good company. I wasn't aware that ribbons were supposed to easy snakes - around these parts they have a reputation for being jumpy and difficult eaters.

Greetings , ribbons are more of a challenge but I have a WC that happily takes salmon and trout fillet cut into strips. I also manage to get her to take scented pinkies and fuzzies. I would recommend switching to a diet of F/T fish with appropriate supplementation.

I'm guessing Eastern Ribbon(Thamnophis sauritus) Possible subspecies T.s.nitae (Bluestripe Ribbon) or T.s.sackenii (Peninsular Ribbon)
Not really sure. Wish I had more experience with them. Awesome snakes.

Lol, Bonnie was using the log to straighten her jaws out after swallowing a fish and I thought it was a great shot.
