Well doing anything more with the area, could have caused her a lot more discomfort. I'm the kind of person that doesn't like having to make those decisions, I weigh out the pros and cons for too long.

From the photo you posted I'm of the opinion that no action would have killed her, by taking some action you gave her a chance.
