Ok update time again with some pics from todays feeding. Lexi is over 16 inches long now, bout double from when she came here, and awaiting Indy's Shed any time now as you can see in a couple pics his eyes are very blue. They had Canadian nightcrawlers for lunch today..016.jpg019.jpg028.jpg029.jpg030.jpg

Yeah...I just love that viv...I went and looked at the reptibark for my snakes...but I don't know if they would like it in terms of burrowing. It really looks nice but my snakes tend to like substrate that they can burrow and make tunnels in...I think I'm going to stick with the carefresh for now...even though it doesn't look very natural. Do your snakes burrow in the reptibark?

    Re: Lexi and Indy

Thanks for the compliments. I try and keep it as natural looking as i can. When i first got them they did burrow in it all the time, for burrowing just make it thicker, and actually i use a combination of moistened coco husk and reptibark it keeps my humidity better in these winter months when the air is so dry. I think i am blessed in the fact that even on the top of the plant where they like to nap, they dont try and escape. They cant but i have yet to even see them try. They seem quite happy in their home and love to climb up their plants and along their log, and they adore the snake cave the most. They do still "root" under and thru the bedding, i dont have it thick enough for burrowing really. I put just enough in to cover the bottom of the tank, for burrowing if you doubled what i use they could burrow nicely.

    Re: Lexi and Indy

    Happy 2012 Everyone!!!

sorry i havent been around in nearly a month but it couldnt really be helped. I had a bomb dropped on me so to speak. I rent my house and farm and well apparently my landlords have not paid their mortgage since may 2011( inspite of trying to get rent earlier then the first of the month up until i was notified by the bank not to pay them anymore) Dec 1 2011 i was notified that the bank now owned my home and that come January it would be put on the market and sold... Well they dropped a bomb on me xmas eve and listed my house for sale xmas eve of all times, so needless to say my holidays were ruined by strangers nosing around my home boxing day thru new years. Not only was it stressing my animals out but i was feeling stressed and violated to some degree afterall none of this was my choice. So once i got over being p*ssed right off at the whole thing, the realization set it that im about to be homeless, my kids, pets, and livestock were about to be homeless in the dead of winter.

Long storey short, the house is sold, and by some freak of nature i have found another farm to rent, the odds were about a billion to one of finding a farm to rent to begin with but unheard of in the dead of winter. So over this month and feb. i will be painting, and moving in.

Lexi and Indy are doing great, growing like little weeds, Indy has bout caught up to lexi is length and girth and has really blossomed into a wonderful snake. He has become very curious and seems to enjoy interacting with us through the glass. We are enjoying them immensely. over the next week or so i hope to get caught up on the forum happenings, im sure i missed a ton. Huggs and a Happy New Year to everyone!!!!
