    I used to squeeze it out, but the snakes actually rejected them more often than if I left it in. This was when they were cut up, of course. Mama like the worm poop a lot... Hah.

    Rudolph just shed and I finally captured his true color in a photo. He is a stunning male T.radix (Plains Garter Snake). The yellow/orange on his neck is striking.
    He is at breeding age/size and will be put to work come Spring.
    The second photo shows the red on his body but also shows one of his sisters. She too has some red influence on her head, just a few red dots.

    Within this group there is a great range of red. A few are developing a beautiful brick red color. (Photos to come)
    Sorry about the dirty fingers. I was spreading a little Christmas eve cheer to some of the snakes (Yes, those darn Northwesterns)
