what do you do for entertainment, Stefan?
    ah, I know
you're like one of my Chinese teachers, who, when asked how he could bear the boredom of teaching the same stuff year after year, answered "students ask funny questions"

I'm only familiar with the Harry Potter universe through the first couple of films, but the mythology didn't seem quite complex enough to be interesting. Maybe it's a bit unfair to compare it to Lord Of The Rings, but that's a universe that has a lot of mythology behind it, most of which isn't even explained in the trilogy.

I like watching movies, documentaries, TV-series, reading, planning stuff, making addons for games.. And I do IQ tests for fun. Anything that requires a bit of imagination or provides an intellectual challenge.

But I can't say the same as your Chinese teacher, I would definitely not bear the boredom of teaching, if stu..dents' questions are the only thing that keeps you sane.

    glad to hear it Stefan
I don't think the Harry Potter books have anything like a mythology
they're more like everyday life in a costume set with it's own terminology
as they are, they're very creative, but certainly do not bear comparing with Tolkien or the like. Tolkien is serious - Harry Potter is a bit like poking fun at the magical world
I do think the books are fun and entertaining to read and I never expected the movies to come close to the books, so I wasn't much disappointed by the previous ones, but the current one should have been a TV series - it's like a trailer for a sit-com or two

I love, it was the first King book I read. Also a werewolf fan, so to speak, but it's a shame there aren't really any good movies.

Oh I didn't mean you should compare the two directly, it was just an example of a universe that has a comprehensive mythology behind it to tie it all together and explains why things are the way they are. I don't know if there are any Babylon 5 fans here either, but I might as well have mentioned it instead. Might not be quite escapistic enough for me.

    Any Terry Pratchett fans here?
