Oh, ouchie... looks like he could have gotten caught in something? Perhaps the lid of his enclosure trying to escape? I'd check the enclosure really well for anywhere he could get stuck. He's a lucky little guy as it looks like it could have been so much worse...

Looks like the one I had when the umbilical cord was wrapped around it.

There isn't anything he could really get stuck on. If he had tried escaping, his head would have been crushed.

It couldn't be that in this case, Steve. He was born in March, so he's pretty old to have his umbilical cord wrapped around him

Hmmm.... I would say that something could have fallen on him, but with the indention on both sides, I don't think that's the case. Check all cage furnishings, hides, etc. Does any one other than you get him out of his tank?

I'm the only one who handles him, my mom compulsively changes around their tank at times. I don't know if she has lately, but I did end up yelling at her when I sound her doing it and she dropped a stick on one of the snakes. I told her never to do it again, but you know, she does stuff while I'm sleeping so I really don't know. She never remembers it when I confront her about it.

Azul just has a handful of problems it seems! He retained his shed and is spending time in a shed box. I'm not looking forward to the possibility of having to peel off all the shed myself. He's the size of a q-tip. I hope he can do it himself, I don't want to hurt him.

Here's his shed. You can see the scabby area where he was cut. I actually sound out what it was. Mama has been climbing on a certain stick, and she's so heavy that she makes the stick topple over. When she falls off of the stick, it slams back into place. One of the pieces of the stick matches his cut. I've taken that stick out and plan on tossing it.

And here's pretty little azul after a huge struggle.

You can see the cut, it's starting to heal. It's nice that he's getting better.
