William's garter snakes.

This is the second one I've caught with the stripes being red.

Also, I know I can't keep it unless it eats...

I meant that I wasn't going to release it automatically.

Some I keep for a while, to see if they will eat..

Others, I just catch them.... Maybe take some pictures.... Then let them go.

I do that too with a lot of animals I catch... Just bring them in and watch them for a few days to get nice photos. I just wish some of them were garters

I do it sometimes. I like seeing if they'll eat for me, or do something interesting, take some pictures etc.

Yeah, I agree. Some of them I automatically decide I don't want to keep them and so I let them go after pictures. Others, I keep for a while to see if they will eat.

Don't worry about the stuff in the bottom, it is a small container that hasn't been cleaned for a bit.

None of my snakes live in there I just though it would be easier for a picture to be taken in there.
