What about copperheads? Cobras? Mambas? They are beautiful.

Until they bite you? Come on. That changes nothing.

They get a bad rap. Black widows (and copperheads) don't want to bite you and are generally not aggressive.

Nobody has died from a black widow bite in many, many years. Even among those who have been bitten, which, is rare enough. Taking a shower at home is more dangerous.

First IMO, Copperhead great amber color, Cobra a plain Jane (oh yet the monocle of the back of the hood), Mamba green with a black mouth not attractive to me.
Now the Gabon now that is a color to behold.
Nevertheless, my bottom line … if it can poison me to the point of death …well that is not for me.

I've kept widows before and I would do it again. There's really no danger. Just don't handle it or allow it to escape. I would say the same thing about many docile but venomous snakes.

Heck, I might just get me a rattler and keep it once I get down to Cali. I've had them before, they get used to you just like a garter would and in my experience, they also do not want to bite you and most strikes are warnings, and bites are often dry. You really gotta piss them off to get an injection of venom.
