    Thumbs up Milwaukee

Hello all, just a little background on myself. Born in Chicago 62, raised in Milwaukee. My Mother gave me a garter snake when I was six and thats when it all began. Kept the usual snakes, frogs, turtles, crows, squirrels, and opossums growing up. Went and served in the U.S.M.C. in 80 to 84. During my tour I was stationed in Okinawa, Korea, Philippines, Mainland Japan, Puerto Rico, Maine, N.C., and California. During my time overseas I observed and handled Oriental coral snakes, one of the Dinodon,{Minton told me what it was},Trimeresurus, also Agkistrodon,Crotalus, Sistrurus, and others. I was fortunate as a youngster to have a Father and Mother that traveled all over the U.S. and I was able to encounter alot of snakes. Currently I am working for the Wisconsin Dept. of Resources for their Endangered Resource Bureau collecting Butlers Garter snakes for morphology work. This has been ongoing for several years now and will continue for at least a few more. I bred snakes in captivity for 12 years and phased it out to train my American Water Spaniels for bird hunting. The dogs have been and gone and I'm going back into snakes, only Thamnophis. One last comment, for those out there familiar with Butleri, one gravid female we have in research is 26" snout to vent, that is a massive Butlers, the neonates should be rather robust. Sincerely, David

Hi David, welcome to the forum. Some great snakes you've dealt with there. Quite a few that I've had too! (Agkistrodon Crotalus, Trimeresurus, Dinodon). Great to have you here!

David, it would be interesting to see some photos of the Butlers you're working with. If that's possible.
