i really would love to go but i'm leaving my wife for 4 days next month to go to bloodstock so im pretty sure she would be annoyed if i went to germany as well.

and i'm guessing hotel costs too... i cant see anyone would want to do a return journey in 1 day

Good point Morph, I'm still considering going in the van rather than the car. Then I can crash out in the back!

I don't know. You could check it out on Google Earth. As I say, I might camp out in the van....sleeping bag, stove etc. It will be a tiring trip, no doubt, but well worth the effort I think.
