    Kim, I've seen a lot of feeder guppies with that color, so I'm really not sure, but they do look like that...

    And yeah, make sure he can't get out again! Fix any holes, etc. Or, from what it sounds like, put a lid on it.

    I think there are feeders with that colour/pattern (endlers maybe?), but its the shape (tail especially) that gives it away as a tetra. They're actually a lot brighter in an aquarium, but look much duller when they're stressed/scared:



    See, when it comes to snakes I don't have a clue, but for the fish I'm sure!

    Only reason I brought it up is because when they're isolated, they literally stay in one spot not moving whereas guppies are much more active (maybe why the snake didn't go for them?). Also, they're tropical fish, so I don't know if they'd be considered garter-safe.

    Oh yeah, definitely a tetra! Sorry, couldnt tell. I keep aquariums too, and am kicking myself for not seeing that
