Garters do pee, it's just wet to semi solid, white and gritty urates. By semi solid, I mean that in tanks where it's had the water absorbed, or something, it is very solid-like. Right out of the garter's cloaca it's pretty wet. I'd say if there was no brown or a like colour, it was pee.

Apparently Izy doesn't care that she's shedding - and she ate a smelt.

Just for the record - did your snakes musked at you ever? I'm talking about your pet snakes, not caught like 5 seconds ago.

    Re: Isis' diary.

When I caught my first garter, my adult red sided male, he bit me about a million time. Barely exaggerating There wasn't an inch of my hand not bleeding from all those little punctures. So naturally, I thought "he's a keeper"

And yes. He musked me. A lot

He's never bitten me again, and only mucked a few times after I caught him. He's a very nice snake now.

I'm wondering, what triggers garters to musk. My Izy poops at me frequently and even Kleo did that once, but they never musked at me. I understad that they can poop as a danger response, but why they don't musk? I'm curious.

Probably just the degree of danger as they perceived it.

Sometimes I think it's the snakes personal preference. ive caught a lot of snakes of the same kind, where one will musk and nothing else, and others bite etc and don't musk...

    I really don't know.

Gee, it seems my babies don't consider me as a serious threat. Am I so harmless? I'm such a failure as a dangerous predator!
