Never had any adverse effects from getting bitten by Houdini, but he's never broken the skin, just sort of scraped it.

I got nipped by a water snake awhile back though, and a scrape smaller than a paper cut ended up with my whole hand getting covered in blood and my thumb going numb. I was always under the impression that water snakes and garters were very similar, so I guess I'm lucky Houdini is very passive?

Well, Snap isn't passive (obviously) and neither was Squirt when I had her. Snap was the one who caused that big problem with my hand the first time. Mama has bitten me on accident too, which caused a bad reaction, probably to the bacteria in her saliva though, cause she was eating.

The water snakes that bite me also make my hand numb. This last time though, it was most of my arm.. Like.. Almost my shoulder.... do not underestimate the power of water snakes venom

I have got bitten a long time ago but I dont remember wht it felt like and I also remember that it didnt draw blood. Im affraid to get bitten now( not cause of what was said here) because Pheobe is HUGE and I havent gotten bitten by one that big before. I know its more shocking then anything cause you dont know its coming but the thought of anything bitting is kinda scary. I almost want to make her( but I wont) just to get it over with on know if her bite will hurt.
I wanted to Thank you Steve for your help with the heating pad.

I have 4 Easterns(mine: Furbie and Whiplash; moms: Diamond and Silky) all are 5 and half months old. So much fun gaters are.

Look, don't ever worry about a garter snake biting you. They really don't hurt. Ther teeth are tiny, designed to hold onto things. My WC adult, when I first caught him, bit me countless times, and even the ones that drew blood didnt hurt.

If you take the rough side of Velcro and touch it to your skin lightly, thats about how it feels.

That's about right. Even this bite just felt like a tiniest pinch and Sage is nearly 3ft long.

It can be startling, but that's the worst. But listen, if she were to bite you, you canning pull away. You just have to sit there until they let go. Pulling away can injure their teeth.

I get bitten a lot by Theif, it's something you have to get used to with a half blind snake I guess. At least I'm not dealing with a blind water snake though, those beasts can bite.
