    I must admit, the wandering is much more shiny black and lacks the telltale white spotting of the easterns.

    I caught one of these years ago and let it go... to into Kings now I wish I had of kept it.

    Wayne thats a great looking snake. I passed up an opportunity to get a pair of LTC mel wandering 3 yrs ago.....I think I made another mistake. Nice pic up.

    I made that as a general statement anyways Don, Most male garter snakes are squirrelly, but both of my male wanderings seem rather mellow. I can pick them up and they seem as if they could care less.

    I have 3 males, and 2 (flame and normal RS) are kinda skittish like you said. But my anery.... Seems like all he wants is for me to take him out. You can pick up his back half, and he would keep doing his thing with his front half, not even noticing.

    My males don't mind handling, but I don't hold them much. They are less mellow than, say, Mama. Ember is more tame than Snakey when it comes to handling. He'll hang out more, lay around and relax, while Snakey just wants to move and court with everything...
    Thumbelina is pretty calm when you hold him, too. He's a little sweetie.
