    Canadian night crawlers okay?

I just saw these at walmart when I was looking for the kind I usually get. I went ahead and bought them, but haven't fed any yet. Are these the same as regular nightcrawlers that are just from Canada, or should I avoid them?

I feel like somebody has probably already asked this question, but I couldn't find the thread.

I use Canadian night crawlers all the time. My snakes go crazy for them.

Canadian night crawlers is just what they are called. They are the same worm in the U.S.A.
Walmart's worms are produced by a company call DMF Bait Co. out of Waterford, MI
I use those worm many times.

These are not only OK, but the ones you WANT to use. Just for your information, in the off season, they are sometimes not exactly fresh. But really, no complaints at all from them.

Thanks! My mom used to be into vermicomposting, but our nightcrawlers had a big die-off aftre one of the freezes this winter, so this is the first time I've actually bought them in quite a while.

Don't do a grab and go with those worms.
Take the lid off and inspect them first. If one worm dies in there it ruins the rest.
I've have to reject a dozen containers before I found a good one.

Always check the worms before you go. I made that mistake once. I bought 2 containers and brought them home without checking. I went to use them for my snakes and not one of them was alive. Had to take them back for an exchange. Now I always check. Hate mushy worms

yeah, and if one dies, a lot of times, if you notice it soon enough you can take it out and it won't kill the others
