Re: Ribbon on the Ranch
Won't they eat her? I was wondering if I can join my Kleo with some garter snake, possibly male, because they are smaller (can they mix, btw?). How about that? Good idea, bad idea, terrible idea?

No they won't.
The Ribbon is about the same size as the others.
Mixings with same sex and approximately the same size is recommended.
Wandering garters are the only exception. They have been know to be cannibalistic.

Well, I was thinking about T. sirtalis sirtalis. Comparing to T. sauritus they DO look way bigger! Am I wrong?

Not sure what photos you're looking at.
You just don't want to put a snake in that could be swallowed in a feeding accident.
Feeding time should always be monitored if you allow group feeding.

Re: Ribbon on the Ranch
Just watching your photos, ladies and gentelmen. And I know how big my Kleo is.
Well, according to my sources, garter snakes can get something like 120 cm long, while ribbons hardly grow over 70 cm. It's quite a difference. Also, garters are thicker. That's why I'm little concerned. Is there a chance (or should I say - a big chance) that 120 cm long garter will swallow my 50 cm long Kleo? I'm not talking about feeding time.

If you're dealing with Wanderings(Thamnophis elegans vagrans) it's a great possibility.
Otherwise I don't think you have to worry.
If it's a concern for you than don't house them together. Your peace of mind is also a consideration.

Re: Ribbon on the Ranch

Ok, last questions - how big can get T. sauritus male (maximum)? How big average speciment is? In centimeters please, because they are more accurate.

Re: Ribbon on the Ranch
Thamnophis sauritus sauritus, to be specific.

Re: Ribbon on the Ranch
This Ribbon is beginning to trust as she came out this morning to get a few pieces of salmon from me.
She's a great girl and I'm looking forward to finding her a mate in the near future.

Re: Ribbon on the Ranch
I wish this would have been in more in focas. In any event.
Check out those eyes. Much bigger eyes than any of my other garters.
I can't wait until this beautiful female will trust me.
