Absolute minimum requirements before I'd ever recommend one.

a cage 8 feet wide, 4 feet deep, 4 feet tall filled with 2 feet of clay soil.

A functioning roach colony, and deep pockets to pay the huge electric bill from keeping the cage hot and preferably own your own home since most landlords would never allow one.

Life expectancy when properly cared for is in the neighbourhood of 25-30 years.

I just started on the 4th one, he looks totally cute in that one.... I've forgotten how hard it is to draw reptiles and get the proportions right.

They are the hardest animal to draw imo.

I hear you there Wayne. I think that only a small fraction of people who try to keep monitors are actually qualified to do so. I for one recognize that I am not one of them. Personally, I don't think they should be kept as "pets" any more than a saltwater croc should be. Just my opinion.

I agree wholeheartedly on that... Bottom line is that this one specimen is far better off here than the next most likely customer to have bought him.

Nope. But it would if everyone else did the same and everyone else has the same argument. "It won't stop just because I don't buy it"
