Took chomper outside today.....

He spent nearly all day back by the creek eating slugs, snails and worms.

He threw a tantrum when we brought him back in the house, he was all puffed up and hissing at us. Soon as he got in his cage, he parked it right under the basking lamps and went to sleep.

Look close on his snout, you can see the orange slime from the big slugs he was eating.

I just started on the 4th one, he looks totally cute in that one.... I've forgotten how hard it is to draw reptiles and get the proportions right.

Chomper is a Savannah monitor...

Absolute minimum requirements before I'd ever recommend one.

a cage 8 feet wide, 4 feet deep, 4 feet tall filled with 2 feet of clay soil.

A functioning roach colony, and deep pockets to pay the huge electric bill from keeping the cage hot and preferably own your own home since most landlords would never allow one.

Life expectancy when properly cared for is in the neighbourhood of 25-30 years.

There goes one of my boyfriends goes of a large lizard I hate roaches and would never allow them near me. Maybe one day I won't be scared of bugs, but maybe the monitors cuteness would win me over... Haha.
