And Robert, I've seen people use bait fish on a fishing line to catch water snakes. It actually works.

No snakes were harmed. They simply waited for the snake to bite the fish, and reeled them in before the hook could do any harm.

I do like it and I'd prefer the space to go to Terry's wonderful photos of his sun room visitors - your opinion has been noted and repetitions are not necessary

Yikes! In case anyone is interested where I came up with the name for this thread: It all started some years ago when I found a blue garter snake out near my woodpile, and wanted to find out more about it. Came across this forum, and found it pretty interesting. At the time I think there were around 200 members. So I introduced myself here http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/welc...572-howdy.html And this thread started from post #18. Most everyone seems to enjoy reading it because it is kinda fun, and I look forward to reviving the thread every spring. Gotta go look for the lamp tomorrow morning LOL.

    Re: Baiting snakes

Been cold and snow for the last few days, shut the crappie fishing down and sent the snakes back under the floor. Got a little sun this afternoon and one came out to take advantage of it. Still kinda slow but might start to pick up a little.

So I changed the bulb to 100w and set the light about 14 inches above the “snake hole” and waited to see what would happen. Came back about two hours later and this happened….. Pretty slick huh?
