I fail this subject... Frog IDing.

Caught a frog in sioux city Iowa 3 days ago while passing through, stopped at a place called bacon creek and caught it. Its obviously a tadpole as the stub for the tail is there as it grows back in. I wonder if its a young bullfrog but it has some spots. Are they from being a tadpole and will go away or what do I have? Snout is not narrow enough for a leapord frog and the spots are too small... Suggestions are greatly appreciated, will have pictures up soon as well as pictures from reptile gardens up in South Dakota.

Pictuars are here, maybe a leopard, I'm not sure. If its a leopard I'll be able to find him a friend or 2 and some fish for his pond. If its a bullfrog I have a handful to deal with !

hi, I don't thinks its a leopard frog, it is possible that its a bull frog,but I'm not sure...bullfrogs if I'm not mistaken usually get a a yellowish throat, and
I have caught some with spots before.......but like I said i'm not totally sure.......Sorry!!!!

I'm no expert on US frogs, but I don't think it's a Leopard Frog or a Bull Frog. Beyond that, I have no idea.

Of the frogs that can be found in in Iowa, the bullfrog would be the most likely alternative. I guess you're going to have to wait and see how the color developes.

Hopeing bullfrog, large frog that eats everything is on my want list- wanting a pyxie for a long time now, there was a large one at petco for the longest time for like 20 bucks lol, this one is free and has more spunk, hopefully I'll get this one on large mice ;*)

yes I agree, like I said I use to catch bullfrogs all the time and do recall spots like that, although not as many, maybe they are less when older.....
and again look for the yellowish chin, throat to develope........

The one frog that is commonly mistaken for the bullfrog is the green frog.

The green frog is so similar that it is hard to tell them apart.
