What a wonderful story! I'm so glad that she is with you now. It is obviously where she belongs.

Very cool roaches! Nice to see some insects here.

And my sympathies to all with dogs nearing that time. Mine is a 10-year-old Golden Retriever/Wheaton terrier cross. He's developing a few issues associated with age. When the time comes, I know the decision will be difficult, but I hope I can make it with love for the dog.

Way off topic: Sometimes it seems to me we treat our dying pets with greater humanity than what society will allow us to show for ourselves. Having watched both my parents and my father-in-law suffer through terminal cancers with no hope for recovery, I would appreciate the option of determining when I check out rather than experiencing ongoing pain while bed-ridden.

Back on topic: I almost bought a blue-tongued skink this week. Careful examination showed some health issues, so I backed off. But I'm sure one is in my future at some point. Think skink!

I was tempted to buy a rosy boa today. They are adorable, but too expensive. The one I saw seemed so sweet. There was also a Kenyan sand boa that I saw and wanted. You can't have me buy pinkies at the pet store without me spending an hour looking at all the adorable reptiles. I can't wait until I start making money... I'm moving and getting more stuff for my snakes.

I've got a Kenyan. Beautiful and nice. Very secretive though.

They are not just snakes. They're garter snakes.

I like secretive snakes. I love how active garters are, but some others are lovely to just look at and feed with minimal handling.

I can't go to the pet store without holding puppies, petting kittens...visiting all of the other animals...and going into the reptile room for quite a while. I held the cutest little milk snake the other day...she was so sweet, and I was so tempted...but that would mean another enclosure and I just don't have the money.

I totally agree with Derek...if I was suffering from a terrible disease, I would like the option to go to the doctor and be humanely euthanized. I wish I could ask my dog if she just wants me to take her...I wish I knew what she wants.

Selena is definitely secretive...Chantel, you would love her!

I enjoy all types of snake or reptile really, from a blob of love, to something feisty, as long as it couldn't tear my skin open... Like a ball python or a tegu. I'd rather one of those be a blob of love
