    Re: Barak666's garters

I didn't take any more pictures yet, but I put a bunch of guppies in their new water bowl (ceramic pie plate instead of Pirex, who seems to disturbs the snakes as they don't know and realize what glass is).

It didn't take long before one of them jump in the fray by eating 2-3 guppies, then he goes back on top at hot point. While he climb he way up, he cross road with the orange one, who was in its way down. This one, once down to the plate, did the same thing as people do when swimming, it dip the tip of it's head, then retreat, then dip a little more, retreat, then again, ... etc, before trowing itself to swim a bit and before charging the helpless guppies.

Was a nice moment of observation, since its the second time I put guppies, and just one was eaten the first time.

The third one was on the opposite side of the enclosure, next to the deer's scull trying to keep an eye on me while trying to conceal itself (didn't work well this time )

Their is more action in this enclosure than in my water dragon's enclosure, its a pleasing change.

    Re: Barak666's garters

So after some times, here some more pictures takes after lunch time today, two of them bask (sorry for the probe cable)

While this time, Guy was on the run, and came quickly to inspect this strange devise, sorry for the poor quality of the last ones, my old 5Mpx isn't suit to focus on an approaching snake. But it give a view of is back's color (who change from blue to green depending of the angle)

My girlfriend, who loves blue/green garter, is pretty happy, moreover it is "Guy" who have these colors. We give him the name of Guy because my girlfriend's father had a grave road accident (it happen in end of september and he is still at the hospital, but on the good way to heal without to much sequels) at the same moment that we get the snakes. We named it during the car trip between Montreal hospital and here (800km) with the snakes that we pick at Charles place. So for all these reason I think this one is her favorite In my case, I love them all three, with tin preference for the dark orange one

He is very pretty. Judging from the very distinct border on the yellow lower parts, I take it he's a flame? I know, not red, not high-end, but isn't that the flame gene that does that?

    Re: Barak666's garters

Well, few things news, last week-end, I didn't saw the orange one for all day, at first I said to myself :"she find a very good hiding!" But after a complete day without seeing it, I started to wonder myself if it could have escape.

I then turn every part of the enclosure without seeing it, my stress was rising fast. After stressing the other two snakes by turning every things upside down, I started to look on the floor, under the furniture, then I saw a movement in the radiator. It was there, it was moving in it. So I was able to push it into a fish net. What a relieve. Once it was back into the enclosure, I try to figure how it escape, the only possibility was the glass door (otherwise everything is seal in epoxy) then a notice that the right sliding door tend to let a small gap on the top of it (glass is 2 feet high) so I guess the snake just climb into the windows track and then find the small hole.

Hopefully they all eat well, so I guess in few time they will be to large for climbing into the glass track. But now I take a special precaution to ensure the door is well close each time I open/close it.

They already eat earthworms and guppies with appetite, then I try the pinkies yesterday, I chopped them in three parts each (for a total of 9 pinkies parts), I didn't scent them with worms or guppies, and it would have been useless as they go straight for it without questions. "Guy" is the one who discovered the plate in the first place, so it engulf 5 pinkie part, the other two got 2 part each. It was pretty funny to see them trying to eat the plate where the eaten parts were.

I didn't take pictures of this moment, I was to captivating by there behaviour to leave the room to take my camera maybe next time.

Here a pic of the orange one taken few days back. It is the one who look the more like her parents.
