    just a quick question?

    hi i no its a silly question but today i was told that if pinkys or fuzzies have got black bellies they arent good to feed to your snake, is this true, if so then why? thanx

    I've fed rats and mice of whatever color happens to be available. No ill effect.

    I think this comment was correct, but you misunderstood what was being said, or the person who repeated it to you misunderstood.

    When frozen mice are taken from the freezer, a black belly can indicate that they have thawed and decomposed. The milk in the belly of a pinkie can turn a dark color first, as the first sign that there has been thawing.

    Therefore, a frozen pinkie with a black belly can indicate a problem in storage and should not be fed.

    I refreeze some of my pinks that aren't eaten..however if they are turning colors like that, I chuck them!!!!! Good idea if they are frozen and have black bellies totoss them out.

    Well, are you talking about mice or rat pinkies? Rat pinkies usually have black spots on them (I think, I've never bought one), and baby mice occasionally do, and I thought nothing of it.

    never seen a black spot on mine....breed rats a lot for the pinkies....once they get to fuzzy size, some black spots show, but its fur
