Are you referring to the rounder shape or the that they appear to be overlapping?

No, I was referring to the appearance that the 'lateral' rows are way high high up on the back, running parallel instead of way down on the sides. The two light stripes on the back appear to be lateral rows. Also, the scales change shape and get much bigger "south" of those rows. Kinda interesting.

I'm just saying, not your typical scale pattern.

Well that's nothing special. It's also just a coloration issue, not a scale issue.
