Don't know about Biology and Statistics but I love Chemistry. Majored in chemistry my first year until i realized I would have to get a phd to really go anywhere with it. Still sometimes think about taking some graduate courses just for fun in both chemistry and physics.

What's wrong with getting a Phd? Sometimes, I think we are too impatient to get on with life, and shoot ourselves in the foot... of course, there is the expense, but one would hope that it would pay for itself in the end. 4 more years versus 20-40 more years without it... In retrospect, the additional four years doesn't seem that long or does it?

Nothing wrong with a Phd, in fact looking back and realizing that I would have been long done if I had just gone for it, I do regret not doing it sometimes. But at that time having just finished high school even 4 years of college seemed like an eternity.

Yeah - I know... isn't it crazy when you look back on it, that you were SOOOO eager to jump into the working world and get away from studying - not realizing that the amount of studying and the time you spend at it, is really very small considering the rewards you reap for the efforts.

Now if only I could get my own kids to understand that. ^_^ Well, it's taken me almost 40 years to get it, so I can hardly blame them for taking their sweet time with it.
