Every wild snake I've ever had, once it eats and sees that I'm the one bringing the food, it's like a light bulb goes on over their heads and they suddenly get it - I'm not out to eat them, I'm out to feed them. After that, they beg when I get near the enclosure, and are curious about my every move.

For the most part garters are quick to trust.
That's one of the things that makes them so cool.
