How flatworms get into a garter snake

I believe that is a 6 legged frog

zoomed in on it only 5 legs are visable but if we want our insectXamphibian cross to be perfect than 6 it is!

A very good reason NOT to feed wild caught frogs to your snakes.

All these years, I always have Never had any problems though. But earlier this spring I had a WC ordinoides that wouldn't eat and was losing weight. It passed a dead tape worm into it's water dish.

I think what you perceive as the 6th leg is actually the beak of the bird!

I'm sure many if not most wild garter snakes have some kind of parasite/s.
They may live a long life with them as long as the load isn't to heavy and their health stays good. They may never show any signs that they are infected.
I have also seen how these parasites will quickly bring an older snake to its death.

I've read a few post from you and I felt you were implying it's OK to feed w/c snakes frogs and other wild food items but that those food items shouldn't be fed to c/b snakes.
Whether a snake is possibly carrying a parasite shouldn't matter. Introducing any possible parasite harboring food should be avoided.

mommy2many & i were reffering to the one in the herons mouth.....that has 5 (6th leg aint visable)the big one has 6 legs

Well I dunno 'bout that. It still has six legs as it's being eaten by the bird too. I think it's because frogs with extra legs is supposedly caused by some sort of parasite.

no it could be a different frog, and wouldnt it be caused by gentics?
