    Well, now! Hello, all!

I can't believe I hadn't heard of the existence of this forum. I'm a long-time member of some others, and glad to be a brand-new Thamnophis forum member.
I have only one Tham. right now, but I have kept others in the past.
I live in Austin, TX., home of the Eastern Blackneck garter, redstripe ribbon, checkereds, and even TX garters.
    Howdy, everyone.
Don Belknap invited me in here, but I don't know his handle yet.

Hi Jack and welcome to our little patch of heaven. As the V.P of the Austin Herp Society, It'll be great to hear from you often. Is there much enthusiasm for keeping garters in your society?

Come on, Rick! Is there much enthusiasm for keeping garters anywhere in the U.S.?
A couple of the members keep one or two, but it's not something that many people think about. A few years ago I brought a litter of baby blacknecks to an expo. Sold one.
However, Our logo does sport one....

I like garters, though. We have some of the prettiest in the world right here in town.
    Thanks for the welcome, folks.

Perhaps we get a skewed perspective on this forum since there are so many people who love garters here. Those that don't already know about the pleasures of keeping garters soon learn about them and become very enthusiastic. I imagined that people from your neck-of-the-woods, with such great local fauna might recognize what great snakes are nearby. Glad you're onboard, though. Best,

    Rick

P.S. Excellent job on the logo.
