"what pops out" is normal looking double hets if not mistaken. If you bred one of those babies to a granite I would think you would get some granites/ double hets. If you bred one to an albino you could get granites and albinos. Right back where you started.

Still, it would be useful to have some double het breeders so you can choose what to produce depending on what you breed them too.

no combo? ...that stinks...what about manipulating patterns...i know the stripe breaks on few areas can you breed a stripless through genetics (selective breeding) also as previouly stated , can you manipulate patterns.

Well think about it. The "granite" trait shows it's difference in the dark areas. If there's no melanin, what do you get? Of course, I'm probably totally wrong.

This site claims to breed albino granites: http://checkeredgarter.com/Breeders.aspx

As I can see from other sites, granites also dont have the neat, touching squares but instead have little flecks of black that usually don't touch so its a pattern too. A pattern will mix with albino. I was wrong, you can have a snake show both traits.

I'm breeding nothing although I might get lucky and end up with a batch of baby anerythristic concinnus later this summer.

I think maybe you're thinking of steve and his red radixes. Not checkereds.

    Re: Melanistic x Albino?

Hmm... not sure but I'm thinking that the blue in a puget requires normal melanin production. There is no melanin in an albino (there are exceptions). I do know that anerythristic concinnus (can't produce normal amounts of red, if any) produce normal black (melanin) and still retain their blue throat pigment.

Anyway, as of now, there are no albino pugets that I know of and not all pugets are blue. Many look very much like a concinnus or look like a normal blue puget without the blue.

hmm no albino?...i wonder if there should be a genetics thread with the charts (the one that has 4 boxes that show dominate and recessive traits that i should know but i forgot the name of) for specific species and morphs...or for just any species...i dont know enough to start one yet...thinkn bout writing one down on a posterboard....ittl take a while tho...selective breeding can create all sorts of fun new colorations but i dont think thers a chart for that
