    Re: T.radix den?

With a big snow storm due in now it looks like the T.radix den is shutdown until Spring. I hope before the Spring exodus I will find a snake camera to take a look down in the den. I'll try to get some video and post.

I always knew there was no way for you to have the concentration of snakes that you have, without there being hibernacula around! Give's me an idea though. I had already planned to go to some ordinoides hibernacula spots I know of, this coming spring, just so I can check them out while there are so many concentrated in one area.(looking for "special" ones) For just a few days a year in the spring, and again in the fall, you can definitely observe "piles" of them mating. I'll be sure to bring a video camera!

    Re: T.radix den?

I call this a den but it's not a large amount of snakes. I think the concentration around my area is normal. I think the snakes have places like mine all over the area.
I've never seen a mating ball or for that matter any mating going on in the Spring. It may all be taking place under the cover of my deck. With the camera under there I will have more of an idea this Spring.
I guess it will then become the XXX radix cam
