    Exclamation Eastern not eating

I found a baby eastern garter a couple days ago. It's about 6 inches now. The cage has a heat rock and plenty of places to hide. The promblem is he/she is not eating, I've tried live small crickets and cut up earthworms. What should I do? Oh yeah, I'm new here hi all!

Forget about the crickets, let the snake settle in (might take a week or two), keep trying with the worms and try fish as well.

Welcome. Your snake may need sometime to settle in like Stefan said. Bugs are not in there diet. Eartworms, nightcrawlers are more their liking. Live guppies are also a good food. Those flopping and flipping little beauties will drive most garters crazy. Check out the care sheet for more info. on keeping your new found friend.

Be patient. It sounds like you've got a pretty good setup. Give him/her time to get settled in.
As far as those brown looking slug things go. If it has a shell it's a snail. No shell it's probably a slug. I don't know which garter snake you have so I don't know if slugs are on their menu. Most of my radixes won't eat slugs. I offer once in awhile more as a joke and they just look at me like "I'm not eating that!"
