    Sadness

My female pickeringii, 'Rei', affectionately known as Lumpy, passed away today.
Over the last month she stopped eating. When it seemed to get serious, I resorted to force feeding. I moved her into a warmer hospital tank and thought she was getting better, but found she had regurgitated her food. after that she went down hill fast. She passed away peacefully this morning.

Before she stopped eating she had a difficult shed, it was comming off in pieces and I had to assist her for 5 days untill it was all off. Maybe that was an early indication that something was wrong.

Im confused, I dont know why she got sick. She has always eaten the same things my other garters ate, and was living in the same tank as them. I just hope its not contagious what ever it was.

We all can tell you stories about the unexplained deaths that occur. There is so much we don't know about them. Genetics, development issues, parasites, environmental conditions. So much we don't know and for many of these can't control. I wish I could give you some answers but I'm wondering to.
I don't think you have too much to worry about in the contagious department.
I very sorry to hear about your loss.

    Re: Sadness

Sorry for your loss! One reason I like to keep all my snakes separated is just in case any of them carry a parasite or disease that could spread....better to take lots of precautions if you can.

    Anyway, you're in my thoughts!
