    Tumors.......

I just discovered tumors on my big radix girl!!! I know she's an old snake but now I know that her time is coming... she is 37 inches long. I am actually really sad, I've only had her for a year but she's been such a good snake!!! There are two or three of them, down by her vent, deep inside her body. I know they are tumors, I have felt them before and that's definitely them..... she is still eating and passing food so far... but I can't even hardly look at her knowing that it's the end of the road for her!!! How do I know when it's time? She eats, basks, hangs out with her boyfriend snake and Radish, and seems so happy. But I know a time will come when they begin to impede her organ function and cause her pain and suffering... ohhhh no.

You'll know when it's time. You will see a change in her. You'll see it in her eyes.
I've been in this same situation a number of times. When you know her the way you do, you'll recognize when it's time. I don't envy you. These are the hardest times. Saying good bye to them is something I dread. I will keep you and her in our prayers.
Please keep us posted. If you can I would like to see these tumor location. It would be good for all of us to be able to recognize them. Best of luck

    Thanks Steve

Unfortunately... you can't see them from the outside, you can only feel them. I only found them as she was sliding through my hands.

Hmm. What is she feeding on? Do you know if they're fatty or cancerous tumors?
If you think they're cancerous, I'd add some omega-3 to her diet.

Fatty tumors are soft but these are hard like rocks. cancerous rocks. like the ones that killed Cuppycake.

I'm sorry to hear that, Shannon. I don't know if that's better or worse than having a snake die suddenly without warning.
