I'm afraid you're mistaken. They're not listed in any way (not as state threatened or on the Texas "blacklist"). Eastern blacknecks are common in some localities, not so much in others, but overall I don't think there is any reason to think they're in decline.

i was cleaning my 20 galon long tank where a house 6 W/C gavid females and took a nice little group pic.
my sweet ladys...they all shed should be droping babys realy soon...post pix as soon as they start giving birth....
