    Re: Hello

Howdy from Northern Michigan! We have only had our Butler's Garter Snake for a few days. He/she is very tame now. We found him slithering through our grandma's hay field. We've fed him earthworms. He especially seems to like climbing around one of our smaller trees.
How do you tell male from female??

Hi Ginger, and welcome to the forum.

There are a few ways to tell the sexes apart; general body form, tail length, probing. But for you the best method might be to post a couple of good photos on this forum and let some of our more experienced members give their opinions.

Welcome!! My husband and I are newish members here as well, same kinda situation. Only my husband found Mr. Pink at work. Actually had ruined the habitat We were getting some cold weather (Snow) so he brought him home. We had figured he was a female but after getting a good shot of his tail soon found out he's male

Here's a picture of his tale, very much so a male after the great help here we realized he was!
