2 have finally eaten.....all appear to be getting ready to shed....taken long enough....most babies I have had have shed in a day or 2 after being born..these guys have been waiting.... will check the sexes this weekend

ran a string along one of the babies to measure their size..... 8 1/2 inches!

finally starting to eat!!! put some guppies in a dish last night and all but one are gone. a couple of them are getting ready to shed too

Great news, Don.

That first big hurdle is eating. After that it's pretty smooth sailing. Glad to hear they're doing so well.

When you said some are getting ready to shed, did you mean their first or second shed? All my babies have their first shed done in the first couple hours or less. Usually less. I would say most are shed within 30 minutes of birth. Just wondering.

first shed....these guys have been holding out on me.... they are big babies..... 8 1/2 inches at birth! all other babies I have had usually shed within a day.

all 4 of Rhea's red sided babies are just now shedding their first real shed. I thought it was taking a while, cause they've already doubled in size since I got em!!! Those little suckers, they run away at the smell of fish but they turn into blood thirsty madsnakes for worms!
