    Garter snake are coming

Hi all ,definitely spring time is coming here in Quebec, the snow is almost gone and I think the garter snake season will begin in 2 or 3 weeks .
I will take a few days off for my search for flame garter snake with Philippe Blais .I cant affort to wait too long because of their habitat destruction. In specific location all snake population are gone.

I went in few spot last week just too take a quick look to see how much snow are in there...God no more trees or swamp, just house and condominium its so sad!I think its really dont matter at this area* if I take adult specimen for futur breeding projet because this summer or in 2010 they will make a golf course everything will be kill.Usually I only pick up year born baby in september ...Maybe me and and few biologist will try to make artificial hibernaculum if they dont destroy everything.

I feel more and more concern about habitat destruction!!!I will make a small album photo just to show you how bad it is !!!

I also feel a rant coming on. It's so sad. There is practically no wild area left in the UK now.

Even more reason to help the ones that can be rescued. I wish you great success and wish I could do more to help.

I'm beyond ranting at this point, I had two of my best spots destroyed last year.

It worries me, the ever increasing rate at which we are destoying our planet. It's fine to say we can rescue some individuals, but for what purpose? To release them (eventually) where?
It all seems sort of futile and sad.
Time to tie myself to a tree, I think.

In theory, you could introduce them into a restored habitat. Or into a similar (near identical) one. Forget about saving individual animals, save the habitats instead.

You might want to try tying somebody else to a tree first.

If I knew where to start, I might seriously think about becoming an 'eco-warrior'.... but maybe a little more pro-active than others are.
