    Re: Feeding time injuries

I remember panicking one time because I found a blood streak smeared across the glass after a feeding. I checked both parties, and couldn't even find where one had been injured. I guess someone tried to eat someone, but I never did find out which one was guilty!

    Re: Feeding time injuries

Funny timing. My guys just fought over a food item for the first time. After a brief, although it seemed much longer, struggle all was well. I don't think they actually got their teeth into each other, just the same pinky strip. Lots of thrashing and rolling by the snakes and a bit of panic on my part, but no visible injuries. One was rather timid about approaching the food dish after that, but eventually did finish his meal. Guess it's time to go back to individual feeding.

Being in law enforcement I've seen it all and have had to do it all. Not much will gross me out but when they tear a pinky in half and the the guts are everywhere. Like all over my hands. I don't like that. These guys are quick as lightning. Just when you think there isn't going to be trouble, you get a fight.

I'm feeding my guys seperated right now... the two eating in their respective enclosures are done, water bowls scrubbed, poop picked up, glass clean...... the other two are NOT happy campers and haven't touched their food yet

They might be mad and are trying to teach you a lesson.
    That won't last long.
The brain in their stomach will take over and they'll start eating again.

I always feed mine together. I just hang over them and watch like a hawk, so I can referee if necessary! The two boys are pretty sneaky with each other's food............

I've done this in the past, too, and may continue with the juvie boys. They had a bit of a tussle last week, but I was right there and other than some panic on my part all seems ok. Ella on the other hand eats every single thing I put into the tank. Last week she had 7 fuzzies, Sly maybe got 1... maybe. She finally did end up eating for me today in a seperate tank and Sly was able to take his time and enjoy his meal in peace Frick did not eat for me today, but they're still being fed at least twice a week, sometimes more, so I'll just switch him and Frack next time and see how it goes.
