all the maritimes I have seen have minimal to no vertebral stripe...would say eastern, have seen easterns with minimal checkers like that..... kind of a beat up snake too!!!

those idiots are pestering a gopher snake....we do take calls on snakes (I am an animal control officer for those that don't know) I love to remove and release them elsewhere and educate people....and chew butts on those that kill snakes!!!! I also tell them it's a state law here that you can't indiscriminantly kill any reptile!!!! that gets their attention!!!!
