I think parents are way to protective on their kids nowadays. To not let your kid leave the house... the poor kid. I know parent saying the same thing, so kid can not go to the scouts and this just because he might get a scratch. It's overprotective and that's never good.

I think he was really enjoying the visit to your house, if I look to the pictures

    Lori - I'm sorry
I know those people are your relatives, and the parents of that wonderful boy, but I need to say it: they're morons, and it makes me feel sad that that little boy doesn't get to spend a lot more time with you and your critters instead

Yep, agreeing with all the others Lori. If it helps I'm an educated child development professional. As Stefan so simply put... you are right, they are wrong. They are damaging their child by not allowing him to experience the world. The first 5 years, and the first 3 especially are the most important years for brain development. His brain will never again be able to learn and develop opinions about the outside world as it will right now. Now is the time that he should be touching, feeling, problem solving, experiencing EVERYTHING that they can possibly provide for him to experience.... sigh... not that it'll matter much the way the American school system is set up. As long as he can memorize books he'll be fine in school.... sigh...

Oh, it's also been proven that the more things, dirt and animals especially , that children are exposed to the less likely they are to have asthma and allergies

I'm still pissed, tho. How can they look at that little smiling face, seeing grandma obviously in the background and knowing you have the camera, and possibly think it wasn't a good experience for him? It's not like you threw him over the fence and went back inside. Ugh. Sorry you have to deal with them and even more sorry the poor kiddo can't enjoy the world.

Oh. Because you know, it seems to me that, aside
from being a little mentally ill, she's pretty normal.

Btw, loved the pictures of Molly James. I'll have to get them from my mom and scan them, but we have pictures of Shane at just under 2 at a petting zoo. He had been feeding and petting the goats, but when he ran out of food he picked up a goat dropping and tried feeding it to the poor goats Even then I had to take a picture before I had him drop the poo and explained to him that it was poo and not food <gg> Washed his hands upon leaving, nothing horrible happened, of course.

    Re: Lori's snakes and such

Well, I went out to run errands today and when I came home, there was a lady sitting in my driveway with this little guy in her car. He showed up at her house a few days ago and no-one in the area seems to know where he came from. So of course, she drives to my house with him... which is one of my huge pet peeves, I really, really, really hate it when people show up un-announced, especially to dump animals on me!!!! But what could I do but take him... I just wish people had the decency to call ahead and ask. Anyway, he really is a cutie.

I know someone on here is a pig fan, too... Aundrea? Steph? I can't remember!!

Here he is next to my rat terrier for size comparison.

He's a stinky little boar, gonna have to get him neutered asap. I think he's probably about 5 or 6 months old. Ok, who shall I send him to??
