I think you'll find the guy is wrong. Pituophis are not rear fanged.

never heard of a constrictor type snake being rear fanged... sounds like an allergic reaction, not envenomation....

Some venomous colubrids do restrain their prey while the venom takes effect, but I'm not entirely sure there are any that both constrict and use venom.

Yeah, I thought about those, but what I was wondering was how good they are at constriction compared to the specialists.

When it comes to constriction, they're not in the same league as Pituophis or the Boids, but still highly effective constricors, routinely using this method to kill their prey.

I'm sure there must be a video on the internet somewhere of a Mangrove Snake killing it's prey..... Google Master.

Re: Hes not a Garter!! Please help!

Well guys honestly I have never had one, just going by what others have said.

However now that I think of it, "Sitting Duck" had a rather bummer experience with his.

Really just trying to be nice so snakebabe does not panic.

Personally, I hope the snake works out, All too often many allow a bad experience to deter them from pursuing this passion further.
