Hi, everyone.

I found this great forum while researching ways to make my new garter snake baby happy.

I had a ribbon snake when I was a young girl, and I've always wanted another snake, but I was holding out until I could afford a corn snake or something like that. My plans changed the other day when I found myself holding a baby garter snake from a nest we found in our woodpile. We covered the others up (they were cold!), but I decided to keep this one.

It seems healthy so far, active, enjoys soaking in the water dish and watching me at my desk for hours, and it seems to be adjusting very well. It's getting used to its new home and used to me surprisingly quickly.

My boyfriend thinks it is hilarious how much I fuss over this little snake. I want everything to be as safe and clean as possible, and give it everything it needs. My ribbon snake had problems with mouth rot (?) so I am trying to avoid anything like that.

It's about 8 inches long, small and cute, and I'm not sure if it has had its first shedding or not.

So anyway, that's me. Nice to meet you all! I look forward to chatting with you all as I fret and fuss over the new baby.
