IHS and garters from trip

I'm not going to post any dead-on-roads, but I found a couple live garters on my trip home from St. Louis. I think Thamnophis radix is my favorite garter snake. They are a magnificent black and orange at the north end of their range in Alberta. Further south, I found an example in South Dakota; the still super cool but perhaps more familiar checkered pattern. In St. Louis, I gave a talk about the Eden garter snake den population census done back in 2014. It was a very fun gathering of like-minded people and I hope to make the IHS a regular event.
