This little checkered, man.

So when my Mexican Black King goes into shed, it's obvious. He goes blue/grey, has clearly opaque eyes, sulks for at LEAST a week, and then clears up and sheds a couple of days later.

This little garter of mine, though! I had a SUSPICION she was going to shed, but I wasn't sure. She was extra hidey for a couple of days, which I didn't think much of, but she refused to eat on Tuesday, which was a first. I picked up the hide she was snuggled into and peered at her. I couldn't see any sign in her coloring OR her eyes that she was going to shed, but I remembered that last time she was in and out of blue in a matter of days, so I stuck the humid hide in there anyway. Sure enough, 2 days later, I find the skin. If I had to guess based on her behavior I'd say she spent maybe 4, 5 days total on the whole thing.

It just seems like such a lightning fast process for her compared to my big(ger) guy!

I couldn't find the part of the shed with the eyecaps, but it seemed intact otherwise, and it didn't look like she had anything left over. Hard to tell when she wants nothing to do with me still.

Are they always so sneaky when they shed? The not eating was different, because her first shed with me she ate.
