Hi all! I just recently purchased two juvenile checkered garter snakes to keep as pets. I had a garter snake once when I was very young and I enjoyed it very much, it took me awhile to convince my girl friend that she would hardly notice them and that they wouldn't bother her at all. I have them in a 12in wide, 12in high, 30in long glass tank, it has a water bowl, two trees and plenty of other places to hide. The person working at the local pet store sold me 12 guppies to give to them as food? Does that sound right? The smaller of the two seems to less afraid of me than the larger one, he is hiding in the snake bedding. I had to look under the bottom of the tank to find him. I almost thought that he managed to sneak out somehow which sent me into a panic looking around the house. I am open to any and all tips/tricks that you might have! How long before I should try to feed them anything? Thanks again!
